You Do Not Need to Understand AI to Use It
You do not understand how your car engine works. You still drive. AI is the same. You type a question or instruction. It gives you useful output. That is all you need to know.
AI in Plain English
| Jargon | What It Actually Means |
|---|---|
| AI | Software that generates text, images, or answers |
| ChatGPT | The most popular AI tool (like Google for questions) |
| Prompt | The instruction you type into AI |
| LLM | The technology behind ChatGPT |
| Machine learning | How AI gets better over time (you do not need to care) |
Your First 5 Minutes
- Go to chat.openai.com
- Create a free account (email only)
- Type: "I own a [YOUR BUSINESS TYPE]. Give me 5 social media post ideas for this week."
- Read the output. It just saved you an hour.
Common Fears (All Wrong)
"AI will replace me." No. AI replaces tasks, not people. You still make decisions, build relationships, and provide expertise.
"I am too old for this." The average age of our most successful AI users is 52. It is typing instructions, not coding.
"It is too expensive." ChatGPT is free. Most business uses require zero investment.
"The output is robotic." Only if your prompt is lazy. Add "write in a conversational, human tone" and the output sounds like a person wrote it.
What to Try Next
Ask ChatGPT to write a response to your last negative Google review. Compare it to what you would have written. Notice the difference in tone and professionalism.
